Jamie Vardy’s finish during Leicester City’s Championship match against Preston North End has got fans talking.
After their promotion back to the Premier League was confirmed on Friday night on the back of Leeds United’s 4-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers, the Foxes had to chance to wrap up the title on Monday night.
Up against Preston at Deepdale, Leicester cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory thanks to a brace from Vardy and a goal by Kasey McAteer.
For Vardy’s second goal, defender Wout Faes saw his shot come off the post after a brilliant driving run. In the right place at the right time was the Englishman, who leathered the ball into the back of the net from about five yards out.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “This will go down as one of my favourite Vardy finishes because it is so wildly unnecessary. He nearly falls over he whacks it so hard.
“It is simply Jamie Vardy having the time of his f**king life and I LOVE to see it.”
Another tweeted: “I spent the morning with it on 0.25 speed on YouTube pausing through every angle. It's truly amazing!”
A third fan added: “I think every fan must have laughed when he scored it, you could almost hear him saying have it as he hit it.”

Speaking after the match, Leicester manager Enzo Maresca said: “We achieved our target and we see the people happy. We are very happy. It was a good win and we finished our job. Now we enjoy and then we have time to think about it.

“We knew (at the start of the season) that Leicester’s target is to get promoted but you know sometimes it happens, sometimes strange things happen. But you can see how tough this league is.”
