Liverpool fans blast Jurgen Klopp decision after defeat to Everton in Merseyside derby

Liverpool fans fumed at a decision Jurgen Klopp made in the shock 2-0 defeat to rivals Everton in Wednesday's Merseyside derby.

Goals from Jarrod Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin inflicted defeat on Liverpool in Jurgen Klopp's final fixture against Everton.

The defeat is a huge blow for the Reds in the title race after Arsenal's thumping win over Chelsea and with Manchester City having two games in hand.

There were plenty of poor performers for Liverpool, with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Mo Salah and Ibrahima Konate panned for their performances.

But Klopp also came in for criticism. The German was without both Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo for the fixture but fans did not like his team selection.

He made five subs in the second half but Ryan Gravenberch was not one of the players introduced.

That is despite the Dutchman scoring in an impressive showing against Fulham on Sunday.

One fan wrote: "Gravenberch play well - Gravenberch not get any game time the next game. Great way to build a young player's confidence."

A second said: "Why is Ryan Gravenberch still on the bench?"

A third blasted: "Darwin Nunez and Salah is still on the pitch, Ryan Gravenberch is still on the bench, Trent and Robbo subbed out, WHAT THE F*** IS JURGEN KLOPP THINKING??"

Another added: "Ryan Gravenberch scored a goal in the last game but Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott got first dibs. This is how we lost out on so many other major titles with Klopp."

Liverpool have now suffered two defeats in their last three Premier League games.

It was their first Merseyside derby defeat at Goodison since 2010 and leaves them relying on slip-ups from their title rivals if they are to finish with a second Premier League trophy under Klopp.
