Fans all saying same thing about Conor McGregor's performance in Road House as UFC star makes acting debut

Fans have been reacting to Conor McGregor's acting debut in the remake of the film Road House, which was released to the public on Thursday.

The former two-weight UFC champion has made his Hollywood debut in Amazon Prime Video's reimagining of the classic 1980s action movie starring Patrick Swayze.

The remake of the film sees A-list actor Jake Gyllenhaal star alongside MMA icon McGregor. Check out the trailer below.

In the new version of the film, Oscar-nominated Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter James Dalton, who is now working as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse.

He comes up against a ruthless gun-for-hire, Knox, played by McGregor.

The action-packed film, directed by Doug Liman, has been given mixed reviews upon its release.

It currently has a 62 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an average rating of 6.4 on IMDb.

McGregor's performance has drawn criticism on social media, with fans less than impressed with his acting debut.

"Pretty awful acting from McGregor I'm afraid. Brought an already average movie down further," posted one viewer on X.

Another added: "Decent movie, not much acting for Mr. McGregor tho."

"I literally turned it off after McGregor met Dalton for the first time at the bar…Gyllenhaal is my top 5 best actors yet this is my top 5 worst movies I've ever seen," wrote a third.

While another posted: "The 'Road House' remake is enjoyable before McGregor shows up with his horrible acting."

Undeterred, McGregor has vowed to continue his acting career and is open to new projects.

After confirming to TMZ that he plans to continue in Hollywood, McGregor told Total Film: "I was just in awe of it all, to be honest with you, the whole process.

"I didn't know how I was going to take to it. I didn't know whether I was going to like it, to be honest.

"I'm a fighting man - that's my bread and butter. It's where I come from... I'm not an actor, but I'm show business. That was my vibe to it. I felt that. I enjoyed every second of it."

McGregor now has his sights set on a long-awaited return to the UFC, with the Irishman expected to fight Michael Chandler this summer.

The Irishman has not fought in the octagon since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July, 2021.
