What Ryan Garcia is expected to weigh on fight night as rehydration clause stance confirmed

Ryan Garcia could put on over 20lbs before stepping in the ring with Devin Haney as the rehydration clause stance has been confirmed.

Garcia missed weight for his massive showdown against Haney as their entourages clashed in a chaotic ceremonial weigh-ins.

He revealed the reason behind his shocking weigh-in mishap as he lost a $1.5 million bet with Haney that they agreed on at the pre-fight press conference.

Garcia has cut an erratic figure this week, but the star fighter underwent a series of tests which was requested by the New York commission.

Ahead of both men entering the ring inside Brooklyn's Barclays Center, they are expected to hydrate up to 160lbs for their 140lbs clash.

Garcia, who tipped the scales at 143.2lbs, could be as big as 160lbs, with there being no rehydration clause.

Haney, who made weight for the defence of his WBC super-lightweight title, is also set to rehydrate pass 160lbs, which he weighed on fight night against Regis Prograis in his last outing.

The world champion's father, Bill, confirmed there is no rehydration clause, allowing both fighters to weigh whatever they want on fight night.

A rehydration clause was stipulated in Garcia's contract to fight Gervonta Davis last year.

He was stopped in the seventh round in a bout contested at 136lbs.

But 'King Ryan' had a 10lbs rehydration clause inserted in his deal that left his body depleted.

Garcia will likely put on over 20lbs ahead of facing Haney. But having missed weight, he is not eligible to win his opponent's world title.

Speaking at the ceremonial weigh-ins, Garcia said: "Enough of that funny business, we have a fight tomorrow.

"I did my best to make this weight. I put myself through hell. At the end of the day I am the best fighter here. I am going to knock him out and everybody will be cheering."
