Arsenal fans furious with one player after Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich

Arsenal fans furious with one player after Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich

Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich to lose 3-2 on aggregate.

Arsenal fans have voiced their anger on social media after their crushing defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Arsenal's hopes of winning European club football's top competition for the first time were ended on Wednesday night after a crushing 1-0 defeat in Germany.

Joshua Kimmich scored the only goal of the quarter-final second leg to secure a 3-2 aggregate win for the Bundesliga side.

Gabriel Martinelli failed to track Kimmich in the second half, allowing the Germany international to score a simple header from inside the area.

While it was a hugely important goal in the tie, it was also a significant one in the history of the Champions League.

Kimmich's header was the 31st goal scored in this season's quarter-finals, breaking the previous record of 30 - set during the 2003/04 season.

Arsenal pushed hard for an equaliser but were unable to find it, with their only hope of silverware this season now the Premier League.

After the match, Arsenal supporters voiced their anger at Martinelli on social media - both for his wastefulness in attack and for allowing Kimmich to score.

"Our most dangerous player? 0 end product as usual," wrote one angry fan on X.

"He was terrible and has been for a while," added another.

A third fan wrote: "Missed our best chance and lost his man for the goal."

While a fourth added: "The only danger he has posed today has been in front of our own goal."

Meanwhile, other Arsenal fans voiced their frustration with winger Bukayo Saka after an underwhelming performance.

"Why is it so difficult to substitute Saka???," asked one frustrated fan.

While another added: "Saka was the worst player on the pitch."

Arsenal must now pick themselves up for their trip to Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
