Arsenal must make Ivan Toney transfer decision as Gabriel Jesus injury return date revealed

Arsenal must make Ivan Toney transfer decision as Gabriel Jesus injury return date revealed

Arsenal have a big decision to make.

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has set a timeframe for his return from a hamstring injury, it has been reported - and it could impact the Gunners' pursuit of Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Jesus limped off during Arsenal's 3-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League earlier this month with a suspected hamstring issue.

The extent of the issue was later confirmed by medical staff, although Gunners boss Mikel Arteta refused to state when he expected the Brazilian to return.

Jesus scored his fourth goal of the season against the reigning Europa League champions in what was a player of the match display in Seville, but his evening ended in devastating fashion.

Arsenal bounced back from that injury blow by thrashing Sheffield United 5-0 on Saturday, with Jesus' replacement Eddie Nketiah scoring a hat-trick.

Now, according to The Sun, Jesus' camp expect the striker to be back in action at the beginning of December - in the midst of a busy festive period for Arteta's side.

It is claimed that the 25-year-old is already doing rehab work at London Colney, although there is said to be caution over his recovery.

The report adds there is a sense that 'great care' needs to be taken with the Brazilian, given the fact that they are entering a tough run of fixtures and the striker will be critical in their title challenge over the rest of the campaign.

If the striker returns on schedule, it gives Arsenal a major dilemma when it comes to the potential signing of Toney.

The England international striker is currently banned from football over betting breaches, but will be back in action in mid-January and would therefore be a viable transfer target.

According to the London Evening Standard, both the Gunners and Chelsea are ready to do battle over the £80 million-rated Brentford striker.

But Jesus' return could make Arsenal think twice about bringing in the forward - though they may decide to press ahead anyway to add extra depth to their striking department ahead of their anticipated tilt at the Premier League title.
