The CBS punditry team went against company orders by discussing a topic live on air they were asked to avoid.

This season has seen CBS Sports' coverage of the UEFA Champions League explode in popularity.

Viewers - not just in the United States but in the UK too - just can't get enough of the chemistry and light-hearted coverage presented by Kate Abdo and featuring Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.

The quadruple have had their moments - like when Carragher suggested Abdo had been unfaithful to her partner Malik Scott - but on the whole they are widely regarded as the best football punditry team in the business.

Their shows often feature jokes at each-others' expense, but CBS bosses might not be happy with what was said on Tuesday evening.

During the build-up to Barcelona vs Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final second legs, the team discussed their contracts despite being asked not to by show producers.

After Carragher asked her is she works on Thursday evenings, Abdo replied: "I don't believe it's in the contract."


The three men all laughed before Carragher said: "She always takes it back to the contract."

Abdo replied: "Am I the one that always takes it back to the contract?" with the former Liverpool man adding: "You're alright, you've signed!"

At this point, Richards exaggeratedly turned to his right to look at Henry, as if to ask if he has signed a contract.

Henry's CBS contract expires this year, and there have been reports that he won't renew.

The former Arsenal striker is currently the manager of the France Under-21s side, and will coach the U23s at the Paris Olympics this summer.

"Ey! Why are you looking at me like this?" Henry cried when he spotted what Richards was doing, before the former Manchester City defender asked: "Are you signed and sealed? Is the ink no dry yet?"

Abdo then attempted to shut the conversation down, saying: "You know they've [CBS] specifically asked us to stay clear of the contract talk on air."

They then moved on from the slightly awkward moment.

Viewers will be hoping that football's best punditry team isn't split up at the end of the season.
