CBS Sports left officials 'fuming' after breaking protocol, they had a huge interview denied

Jamie Carragher broke protocol during his CBS coverage of Borussia Dortmund versus Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Jamie Carragher broke protocol during his CBS coverage of Borussia Dortmund versus Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Liverpool icon was sent to watch Dortmund’s 1-0 Champions League semi-final first-leg victory over PSG at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night and enjoyed a boozy time with the home supporters before conducting a series of post-match interviews.

An inebriated Carragher went viral after a hilarious interview with United loanee and Player of the Match, Sancho, while it was later revealed that his planned discussion with PSG boss Luis Enrique was abruptly halted after the Spaniard took issue with the pundit’s Dortmund scarf.

Fellow CBS pundit and Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel opened up about Enrique’s Carragher snub, adding that the former centre-back had upset Dortmund's press officer.

“In all seriousness, he's in the sin bin,” Schmeichel said. “Seriously, he's upset every person here. First of all, were supposed to have Luis Enrique.

“And he came in and said, ‘Hello’ and then he left because Jamie was wearing a Dortmund scarf.

“Then because we took Jadon Sancho in, the press officer from Dortmund got a bit cross with us because that was not on the list. We've been very naughty. And I hope it's been good content.”

Earlier in the courage Carragher had left the CBS studio in hysterics by admitting he had drank eight pints, upon making several “friends” in Dortmund's famous 'Yellow Wall'.

Wearing a Dortmund scarf, Carragher conducted much of the interview with Sancho with his arm around the winger’s shoulder, to the amusement of the CBS Studio panel.

Thierry Henry had his head in his hands as Micah Richards noted: “He's got his arm around him!”

Anchor Kate Abdo then quipped: “99 touches from him [Sancho] in that game tonight. 31 touches from Jamie Carragher on Jadon Sancho in the interview that he did.”

Dortmund will take their 1-0 lead to Paris in next Tuesday’s second leg, courtesy of Niclas Fullkrug's first-half strike.
