Expectations were high for Marouane Chamakh when he arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Bordeaux in 2010. Gunners fans were hoping the bosman signing would prove to be a bargain buy. It ended up looking like a rip off, even for a free transfer.
A loan move to West Ham that consisted of just three goalless appearances and a permanent switch to Crystal Palace didn't see the Moroccan striker fare any better, finding the net just 10 times in 66 games during his three seasons at Selhurst Park.

Now Chamakh's career in England has reached a new low, with Championship side Cardiff City releasing the striker after just two months at the club.
Cardiff boss Neil Warnock, who originally signed Chamakh during his stint as Crystal Palace manager, confirmed that both Chamakh and former Manchester United winger Kieran Richardson had been released.

Chamakh made just two appearances for the Welsh outfit, who was described by Warnock as "He's a versatile player with pedigree and somebody who impressed me during my time at Crystal Palace" shortly after arriving at the Cardiff City Stadium. It would appear that the Morrocan's versatility and pedigree weren't enough to convince Warnock to keep him on the Bluebirds' books into the new year, though.
