Dusan Tadic has revealed he cried all night following Ajax's Champions League semi-final defeat to Tottenham.

Ajax were eliminated by Spurs in the dying embers of their second leg clash. Lucas Moura scored deep, deep into stoppage time to book a spot in the Champions League final.

As the Brazilian forward wheeled away in celebration, Ajax players slumped to the floor in deep dejection including the Serbian playmaker who cut a heartbroken figure.

Tadic's emotions got the better of him as he shedded tears through the night.

"It had been a while since Ajax won the double," he told Ajax Life. "This was a fantastic season, we became increasingly hungry. Ajax made the Champions League exciting. We deserved to play the final.

"You know, when I'm disappointed, I like to cry. Surrendering yourself to the emotion. Then you get it all out of your body.

"When I got home, I turned on some sad Serbian music and sat on the couch. Then I went to bed. I think I seriously didn't cry for an hour that night. When I saw my children the next morning, that also helped."

Ajax still bagged an impressive domestic double. They beat PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title while securing the KNVB Cup.

And, on a personal note, Tadic enjoyed a superb individual campaign. He weighed in with goals and assists. He contributed to 55 Ajax goals.

An incredible piece of business from Ajax who snapped up Tadic from Southampton for a measly £11.4 million in 2018.
