Australian motocross star Jayden ‘Jayo’ Archer has passed away at the age of 27 after reportedly crashing while attempting a trick.
Back in November 2022, Archer became the first motocross rider to complete a triple backflip during the Nitro World Games in Brisbane, Australia.
At the age of just 15, the Australian secured a sponsorship deal with Powersports Kawasaki after becoming the youngest person to land a backflip over 75ft.
According to ESPN, Archer died after trying to land a triple backflip, the trick that made him famous.
Back in November 2022, Archer said after landing the trick: “I cannot describe this feeling. This is so much more than a trick to me. I’ve dedicated my entire life the last three years, to this moment. There were a lot of obstacles and broken bones and knockouts, and I would do it 100 times over to relive that moment again.”
Announcing Archer’s death on social media, Nitro Circus said in a statement: “The Nitro Circus family is mourning the loss of Jayo Archer.
“Jayo was the epitome of passion, hard work and determination. He pushed what was possible on a dirt bike to heights never seen before. A positive influence to those around him. And above all else a great human being and friend to us all.”
Senior vice president of Nitro Circus, Ricky Melnik said: “No one had a bigger heart or more determination than Jayo. We called him the Incredible Hulk. He was a beast on the bike and a gentle giant off it.
“Watching him go through the process of learning and landing the triple flip in competition was so inspiring. He wanted to take FMX to the next level and go further than anyone had gone before.”
Fellow motocross rider Harry Bink wrote on Instagram: “Jayo lit up every room he walked into with his energy and his good values.
“He wasn’t scared of much and I really admire him for it … I don’t think even Jayo even knows how much we are all going to miss him.”
