EFL Cup Final: Manchester United v Southampton Betting Preview

Can Jose Mourinho guide Manchester United to more silverware?

Manchester United head to Wembley for the third time in nine months as they prepare to face Southampton in the EFL Cup final, having already beaten Crystal Palace and Leicester City in the FA Cup final and Community Shield respectively.

Southampton are likely to pose their toughest test yet though, having already beaten four Premier League sides on their way to Wembley. Claude Puel's men have dispatched of Palace, Sunderland, Arsenal and Liverpool (twice) without conceding and will make themselves difficult for United to break down.

The Red Devils come into the final in much better form though, having only lost one of their last 25 games and winning five in a row. The Saints, on the other hand, had lost three in a row before the 4-0 demolition of David Moyes' Sunderland side over two weeks ago.

That was, bizarrely, the last time they played. Already out of both the FA Cup and Europa League, Southampton have had two weeks to focus and prepare for this one; United have had four days. Since Southampton's last game, United have beaten St. Etienne at Old Trafford, won away at Ewood Park and then travelled out to France to beat St. Etienne again - meaning they're likely to be the more fatigued of the two.

That being said, I expect Jose Mourinho to lead Manchester United to their first League Cup victory since 2010. For that reason, I think a United Win with Over 1.5 Match Goals is well worth backing at 5/4 with Bet On Brazil. 15 of their last 16 games in England have seen two or more goals.

For slightly better odds, I'd recommend taking a chance on Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Score Last at 7/2 with Bet On Brazil. In the 18 games he's scored in for Manchester United, he's bagged the final goal of the game 13 times. Not to mention he's scored five goals in the five domestic cup finals he's played in.

If you like the look of both of these, it's well worth backing Bet On Brazil's enhancement of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Score and Manchester United to Lift the Trophy at 50/1. The bet has a £1 max stake and is definitely worth backing in my opinion.
