Arsenal supporters couldn't believe it.

Tottenham take on Manchester City in midweek as they aim to keep their hopes of Champions League football alive, but supporters of their fierce rivals Arsenal noticed something peculiar they did in the build-up to the clash.

On Saturday Spurs came from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 at home in the Premier League, a result which confirmed the Clarets' relegation and ensured Vincent Kompany's men will be back in the Championship next season.

Burnley took the lead through Jacob Bruun Larsen, but Pedro Porro drew the hosts level in the first half.

The Clarets needed a win to keep their survival hopes alive, but their fate was sealed when Micky van de Ven netted a late winner for Spurs.

For Ange Postecoglou's side, they remain in fifth place in the top flight, meaning they are currently on course to be playing Europa League football next season.

Spurs are competing with Aston Villa for the fourth and final Champions League spot, with the North London outfit trailing the Villa Park side by four points with two games left to play.

Tottenham must win both of their remaining games and hope Villa lose one and draw the other of their final two fixtures if they want to stand a chance of playing in Europe's top club competition next term.

Villa take on Liverpool at Villa Park on Monday night, while Tottenham's next game is at home to City on Tuesday, with Pep Guardiola's side closing in on the title.

But even though yesterday's win was not the final home game of the season, the Spurs players and their families embarked upon a lap of appreciation following the full-time whistle.

And Arsenal fans in particular have been quick to point this out on the social media platform X, highlighting to their rivals they still have another home game to go this season against a side they are still competing for the title with.

@mahamoud_ismail posted: "Nah this is next level hatred for Arsenal. Spurs have another home game on Tuesday but have decided to do their end of season lap of honour today."

@iamfizzle123 wrote: "No shame at all you can still make the season wonderful you have City on Tuesday beat them then wait till the final day of the season to qualify for Champions League."

Should Arsenal drop points against Man United on Sunday then victory for City on Tuesday will clinch the title with a game to spare.
