Finally the tour enters the toughest Alpine stages, the catalyst which should produce an exciting last week of racing.
Brits are on the defensive with Froome and Yates eager to cement their first and third place in the overall standings.
The terrain suits Froome down to a tee, but it also lends itself to the diminutive climber Quintana who needs to use these stages to claw back some time on the Yellow Jersey of Chris Froome if he wants to stand any chance of being in yellow by Paris.
Advert
For today's stage expect fireworks on the final climb up to Finhaut-Emosson, especially among the GC contenders. Froome for the stage at 13/5 is a safe bet to go for today considering his startling climbing form, but don't rule out Quintana at 7/1; he's yet to prove himself this tour so this could be the very stage he's planning on doing so.
As an outside tip, today's stage could also favour a breakaway, the GC teams allowing for a large break to go away without much concern; this break could therefore contend the finish and with such a mountainous day it will extremely favour those in contention for the King of the Mountains competition.
Therefore Rafal Majka will likely be in the day's break vying for points; and could be a likely winner of this stage at 16/1.
